The teachers and trainers of our tour guides have lived in Jerome for more than 30 years. We on the Board of Directors believe that we are a part of the historic continuum of Jerome. We encourage our tour guides to read and re-read anything and everything that has been written on Jerome. More history and more mysteries will continue to appear.
Wreckless Rick has worked as a ceramic artist and sculptor in Jerome for more than 30 years. He has also worked as a Teaching Artist-in-Schools in Arizona, and 12 other states. In 1987 he received a Fulbright Fellowship for independent research in masked rituals in West Africa. After returning from Africa he founded, directed and taught The Jerome Kids’ Art Workshop from 1990 through 2000. In the years following, he has designed and built a sculptural house, well outside of Jerome’s Historic District.
Jerome’s history and many mysteries are a more recent fascination of Wreckless Rick’s. He has read and re-read every book about Jerome that he can get his hands on.
The fact that he is still alive is why we call him “Wreckless”.
